How to Transport a Car

What you should know when shipping your car

  • Insurance

Every time you transport a car through us or any other company it will be covered by insurance. However not all insurance policies are created equal. Ask to see a certificate of insurance before your car is picked up. Some things to look for are cargo liability limit and the deductible. Certain policies have a large deductible, up to $2500 or greater, which means that in case of a claim the insurance company will not pay out the whole amount.

  • Brokers vs Carriers

There are advantages to using both yet they are not always obvious. Generally speaking most car hauling companies that you find on the internet are brokers. When working with brokers you should be cationed about the scheduling times as they are not always accurate and at times are just a guess. Be sure to work with a reputable company and if the price sounds to good to be true you should be concerned. Carriers are generally better at predicting pick up dates but the prices may not be as competitive

  • Open vs Enclosed

Car haulers come in two varieties, open and enclosed. Open car haulers are cheaper, usually faster at picking your car and delivering, however your car may be exposed to harsh weather and will usually get very dirty in transport. Enclosed transport is very expensive, up to 50% or more, and is usually reserved for the most expensive vehicles. Call us if you need more information about either transport.

  • Inoperable Cars

We ship cars that are non-runnig and this is our specialty. Generally if the vehicle will not start we can winch it up on our trailer or hire a rollback to help load it. Expect to pay about $150 more if the vehicle doesn't run. If the vehicle doesn't roll you may need to arrange a forklift but each scenario is different, give us a call for more information. We aslo ship from auto auctions like copart and insurance auto auctions.
